Referrals
Many insurance companies require you to have a written referral or prior authorization when seeing a specialist or undergoing certain diagnostic procedures and tests. It is always wise to know the details of your individual insurance plan.
If your insurance requires a referral or preauthorization, we will schedule your appointment with the recommended specialist following the provider’s order. We require three to four business days to complete referrals and four to five business days for prior authorizations.
Once your referral has been completed, you will be contacted by our referral clerk, and if necessary a copy of the paperwork will be mailed to your home.
To assist us in completing the referral process, it is imperative we have updated information on your telephone number and mailing address.
PLEASE KEEP REFERRAL APPOINTMENTS. Much time and effort goes into securing referral appointments, and it is imperative that you keep these important appointments. Many specialists will not reschedule patients who have disrupted their schedules with a “no show.” If you are unable to keep the scheduled appointment, a phone number is provided for you and you may call the specialist and reschedule for a more convenient time.
REMEMBER, referrals cannot be completed "after the fact". Please do not see a specialist or have a diagnostic procedure performed and then call us for the referral.
